[ That's a smart plan, and they'd probably gotten a little too power hungry when they'd gotten their weapons, but Belial's too far from the door now to do anything, so he'll leave that to one of the others.
He takes aim when Xichen does, darting to the side to follow his example and shooting a missile at the other moth, in an attempt to use both their attacks to send the two creatures crashing into one another before firing a second toward the screens to try and see if they can blast through.
There's a lot of creatures around them though, and as soon as he's fired the launcher is back in his hand like a club, batting away at anything getting close. ]
[She pauses for only a moment in surprise as she sees the moths, but then she nods in understanding at what Xichen says. Turning back for a moment, she uses the morning star to sweep across the encroaching insects in a wide line, hoping to create space between them and the door so that Mugen can shut it behind them. As she does so, she looks towards him.]
[ this is so batshit wild that mugen doesn't even begin to question the giant ice moths. he's busy with the ones behind them, anyway - endorsi tries to clear some space and he gets the picture quickly. in fact, he shoves her into the hallway as he swings another sonic blast in the direction of the bugs, and then attempts to slam the door closed behind them, once both of them are out with belial and xichen. ]
[Mugen and Endorsi manage to close the doors behind them, trapping the bugs back in the room. But there are still bugs around them and in front of them - they're now backed up against a door.
The moths seem more dangerous than the other bugs so far. They flap their wings, and shake off a Tannenbomber explosive and jingle missile with ease. You're going to have to find another way to defeat them. . .
Meanwhile, one ice spider comes running at high speed, charging right at Endorsi.]

[ Belial's thinking along the same lines as Xichen when he sees the moths essentially shrug off their blasts, and while he's not nearly zen enough to be merry while they're being attacked from all sides, he's faked higher peaks in the past.
He hums the same song from earlier as he heads closer to Xichen, ] jingly balls, jingly balls [ and grabs his arm in lieu of his hand, his launcher back on his shoulder as he fires: ]
What was it again? Oh yes, Feliz Navidead.
[ Otherwise they're going to have to pull a fire out of their asses. ]
[Her first instinct is to try and kick this spider away, but with her tragic nerfing and what happened to her hand earlier... Instead, she swings the morning star around, aiming down with the spikes to try and crush the spider underneath once it comes close enough. It's quick, but...]
[ belial and xichen have the moths handled, it seems like? or they have them handled enough, because - well, mugen's about to do something stupid.
it's meant to help, because he knows she's very capable of handling herself. he doesn't say a word, just leaps towards it with his sword, aiming to slice a leg off in tandem with her smash --
and also to block any sort of revenge damage coming for her. ]
[Endorsi brings the morning star down on the spider, but the morning star slams against a thick defensive shell. It rears up, screams, and moves to bite her head off. Mugen's attack to its leg, likewise, doesn't manage to slice through, but it unbalances the spider a little. And his effort to block revenge damage does work - the spider will take a bite out of Mugen instead of Endorsi.
Xichen will find that his thinking sappy thoughts does add a little bit of power to his shots - this time, the bauble that appears at the end of his arrow has a smiling picture of a young Xichen on it, and when it explodes, the moth isn't injured, but does hiss in pain, and it blocks the moth from attacking again. The other moth tries to swoop and attack Xichen in revenge.
However, when Belial says the words 'Feliz Navidad,' something happens. the rocket launcher fires out - a second launcher, and a third, and a fourth. All four launchers fire at once, shooting rounds and rounds of bells. These stick to the moth swooping to attack Xichen, all over its wings. It struggles to shrug off the sticky bells, but instead they explode - setting the moth on fire and causing it to melt.]
[ he actually has to step back, that is a lot of fire but... it worked, taking out the moth. for as unsettling as his hand suddenly held is, there's no way to really complain about results. and if it worked for belial... well, here goes nothing. ]
Tidings of discomfort and pain. [ he says as he fires off the next shot to the remaining moth before it can get any ideas. ]
It doesn't take a lot for Belial to become unhinged, and with this on hand he's going to swing his launcher around at the other swarms of creatures, gleefully repeating ] Feliz Navidead! Feliz Navidead! [ while aiming at the insects and structure both around them.
She brings up the morning star to protect her face, but by the time that's done, Mugen has already jumped in front. She - doesn't know how to react to that, exactly, but she's grabbing for him on instinct to pull him away from the spider. He might have already been bitten by the time she does, but it's better than letting him get attacked again, she thinks as she makes the attempt. Then, aiming her new weapon towards the spider's head, after taking a cue from the others:]
—God and sinners reconcile! Idiot...
[That last part is muttered to Mugen, though she doesn't sound too angry as she says it. More confused than anything. ...And then, as those attacks get a little too close for comfort, to Belial:]
[ she pulls him away with the spider like, still attached to him, but it's enough to wrench him out of its grip. he lets out a grunt of a noise, staggering backward and bleeding freely from the shoulder. that arm hangs a bit loosely - it's cold and he's already frostbitten!! ow!! ]
I ain't the idiot! [ he grumbles in her direction, shifting his sword to his other hand. ] Try not getting lunged at.
[ binch. he's going to try and duck out of the way of her Big Attack that she's doing, as well as the strays from belial. his goal here is to clear the other bugs coming up on them with his sonic blasts, reluctant to leave endorsi on her own. he's used to fighting other samurai, this is like, way out of his wheelhouse. ]
[When Xichen speaks those words, the crossbow and its arrows begin to spin around rapidly, until they form the shape of a drill - green and decorated with blinking lights and explosive orbs. The moth shrieks and dive bombs him, but once the drill touches its wings, all of the orbs explode at once. With a last shriek, the moth is dead.
Belial will realize there's clearly some amount of cooldown time here. The Jingle Bell Rocket Launcher continues to shoot multiple rounds, but they're less powerful than the ones that brought down the moth. Still, they destroy many ice bugs. Since they're cold seeking jingle missiles, they won't necessarily hit Endorsi and Mugen.
However, when the spider bites down on Mugen's arm, it creates enough cold that one of the jingle missiles will zero in on him and start to chase his wounded arm.
Meanwhile, when Endorsi calls her attack, the spikes all eject from the morningstar, forming about twenty whirring shuriken, flying through the air around Endorsi and fending off any insects that come close to her. They rip the spider to shreds, sending shards flying.
There seem to be fewer new insects coming now - a few beetles, a group of ants, but perhaps they are turning the tide?]
[ between the three weapons, the array of attacks that they can do is absolutely staggering. xichen doesn't know if he's ever seen something so wild in his life, but hey, he's not about to doubt it if it can get them out of here.
he uses regular shots to fend off any remaining bugs chasing them, trying to do a cover for endorsi and mugen so they can catch up to him and belial. ] Are you all alright?!
[ does someone need to carry mugen again, he'll do it if he needs it ]
[ He already carried Mugen once, so this can be considered levelling their relationship back to zero.
When it becomes obvious that he can't fire off the super move one after the other, he switches back to holding the launcher like a club playing whack-a-mole with any of the other insects that come crawling his way, and chasing after those that aren't.
He's got cuts all over him from the shards now, which only adds to the deranged look, but everyone lets off steam differently. ]
[She breathes a small sigh of relief when the spider goes down, even as she shoots a glare at Mugen when he speaks - but then she notices the missile heading for him. The spikes might not currently be attached to the morning star, but she'll try and slam the circular head of the weapon into the missile anyways, trying to destroy it or at least slow it before it can reach him. Some of the shards hit their targets and cut a hole in her dress near her waist, but they don't cut too deeply through her skin. She can worry about it later. To Mugen:]
[ the missile gets a yelp out of mugen, who lifts his sword to try and destroy it - but endorsi is helping! whether she can manage to get it or not, he's starting to look tired. he was already healing from various injuries to begin with, and the cold is getting to him.
he refuses to be carried, though, and as xichen starts to help cover for them, he glances at endorsi before jerking his head as if to say let's go. and he takes off, rushing to catch up with belial and xichen. and also ramming into belial "on accident" on the way. ]
Fine, we're fine. [ he grunts, ignoring his bleeding shoulder. ] Fine and even, let's go. I got my attack still, leave any big groups to me.
[As they gather, they can see the hallway that leads back towards the stairway. However, they can also see a swarm of what look like smaller (ranging from the size of a rodent to the size of a large dog) ice insects buzzing around. They appear to look something like bees or wasps.
As the group approaches, the bees zoom together, and begin to form an extremely large being. It's probably about twenty feet tall, with arms and legs and an angry buzzing face. It reaches down to spike at Xichen, and then turns and spits several buzzing ice bees at Belial.
One particularly large bee, at the head, begins to laugh.]
[ xichen tries to get out of the way of the spike but it still knocks into his side and sends him stumbling and coughing. it's a solid hit but xichen manages to stand get on his feet again because they have bugs to kill and a cave to get the hell out of. ]
Tidings of discomfort and pain! [ he says again, shooting for the upper joints of the legs ]
[ The bees charge at Belial at a speed where he can't shoot a missile at them without shredding himself into ribbons from the ensuing explosion, the bats them away the best that he can, crushing a few and taking a hit from the few squirmy ones that escape, frostbite spreading over his skin as much as blood.
Despite the swarm however, when he's got the launcher up and ready again he aims at the boss bee, grunting as he launches a missile toward its mouth to hopefully stem any future babies that it wants to produce. ]
[She doubts that the special attack is going to work again so quickly, so she takes the morning star and swings it, slamming it towards this thing's middle since Xichen is aiming for the legs.]
[ mugen says, a little dazed. life is already so goddamn weird. but hey, that means he gets to do his Final Attack, because this definitely smacks of boss. still bleeding from several places, mugen brings his sword up and aims it right at the largest bee at the head. ]
Finishing PaRumPaPumPum, motherfucker!
[ and he pictures being warm in front of a fire while he does it, for Extra Power. ]
[Xichen will find that his special attack is still cooling down - the drill will form and spin around, but the bee bats the drill away with one large hand. The bee only laughs when the morning star hits, apparently not taking much damage, and it swallows the jingle missile with loud chiming laughter.]
You're going to have to do much better than that! I am the Queen! Your Yuletide does nothing to me, fools!
[Mugen has a little more success. His special attack, given extra power by the warm and merry thoughts, fires. The Big Drummer Boy splits in half into two one-handed swords. Mugen will find he's able to slash at them in rapid succession, causing a drum pattern throughout the cavern which shoots a shock wave at the bee, blasting one of its arms to ribbons.]
Not bad. But still not enough.
[More bees begin to swarm in, creating a new arm for the Queen. What's your plan?]
[ at least mugen's attack seemed to work, even if the rest of theirs didn't. ]
I think we'll all have to attack at once so it can't regenerate. [ hopefully all their cooldowns will be done in time to make it that far though. xichen is ready to shoot at any little bees or attacks that come his way with the regular arrows. ]
