[You’re all on a small platform on a large pole - you’re pretty far off the ground but fortunately, it appears there’s a ladder to the ground. Yay! You can’t see the bottom of the ski lift from here. Just a very, very steep slope.
Unfortunately, yes, there are mysterious wolf howls in the distance. Hm. You can’t see anything obviously dangerous on the ground though. Binghe will descend the ladder. He’ll just land softly in some nice powdery snow.
Xichen will . . . not actually need to find a place to warm up! Once he consumes some delicious gorp, he feels amazing. So vital! So full of life! He feels warm and full and ready to do something really cool! He gets an advantage on a future roll to use whenever he wants.]
[Well Ogata will also take the ladder down!! Or well, he'll free himself of his skis first, and then do that. He is taking the skis with him though.]
You know, now that we're down here I'm actually annoyed neither of you know how to ski. [Not that he would have done great without poles but he could probably have managed!!!]
[ he just shoots ogata a look when he opens his mouth, and takes this moment to do a quick look-see around. how far away is the bottom of the slope, can they even tell? are they gonna have to start ambling down instead of skiing now. ]
If you'd like to inform me of your skills with cultivation, martial arts, or sword-fighting, I'm all ears.
[ fuck u and ur decently related skill to this moment. ]
[ woah! he feels great!! this gorp stuff is amazing!!! ]
Binghe is right, we each have our own strengths and knowledge. Just because we don't know how to ski doesn't mean we'll be better or worse suited for this mission.
[ be nice or else.
he will also head down the ladder, keeping an eye out to the area to make sure nothing is coming their way. ]
[Since you’re all on the ground and immediately yelling at each other and giving friendship speeches
You miss the warning growls coming from the trees on either side of the run.
Ogata? You’re fine. Doing great.
Binghe? A wolf has tackled you to the ground. It’s much bigger than any ordinary wolf, and is growling and snapping its jaws right in your face! Ah! This must be a flash to Steve’s last, horrible moments.
[Well. You feel a swift kick in the head. It just happens to hit you hard enough that your head goes smacking back into the metal pole with a sickening thud.
[UH??????????????????? Hey there's trees right? Ogata's cat instincts are activating and he's scaling the nearest tree because haha fuck this. There's nothing he can do against that huge wolf. Bye Binghe!!!]
at least he's kind of used to tussling with giant monsters??? normally he has spiritual energy to blast them with, but, hey! he immediately starts to tussle with the wolf, dodging out of the way of these snapping jaws the best he can before eventually just shoving his left arm in its face. his right arm grabs for his pocket, gets his hand on the eggnog 40
and just fucking smashes it over the top of the wolf's head ]
Ogata scales up that tree like a cat out of hell. Right up there. A wolf tries to snap at him as he scoots out of the way, but it just misses - only nipping at part of his cool ski outfit and then waiting at the base of the tree, growling and drooling.
Binghe!!! Creative item use. A great success. The wolf howls in pain as the glass of the eggnog 40 shatters into its skin, even getting in its eye. It’s bleeding now and its aim isn’t very good, though it’s still on top of him. Looks pretty rough!
[ Until, after a moment, he stops bleeding? And actually he feels - yeah. He feels something. Because he’s alive? He’s alive again. Though with a rather nasty knot on the head. Hm! Lucky. Or weird?
[Ogata still has his skis, so he's going to try and jab one of them into the eye of the waiting wolf. Or mouth? Whatever soft tissue he can get at and ruin with this plastic nightmare.
Also wow he was sure Xichen had died? Good for him, he supposes.]
binghe's gonna kick the thing off of him if it looks rough, use whatever's left of the glass bottle's neck in his hand and try to stab it in the neck, as many times as possible until it STOPS MOVING. ]
[ what the hell, who kicked him? xichen blinks and sits up--
--and gets attacked. xichen shouts and grabs the broken ski at his side and slams the shattered edges into the wolf's eye, giving it the strongest shove he can to get the wolf off of him. ]
[Deadgata seems to be having some trouble with this wolf. It manages to grab the ski in its huge, strong jaws and yanks. He’ll either have to let go of the ski or fall out of the tree.
Binghe you’ve murdered that wolf. Wolf murder. It’s super dead. Wow. Maybe it was an endangered species? Rude? There are mournful howls off in the distance. Blood and eggnog drops onto the snow. Festive.
Xichen . . . with his gorp power just
stabs the ski straight through the wolf’s skull? Jesus christ. It’s very dead. Who doesn’t love gorp.]
Anyway he's letting go of the ski just to give the wolf the distraction while he grabs his other ski to try his stab maneuver a second time!! He wants to kill a wolf too????]
[ it'd probably be nice to go help ogata. binghe is not going to do that.
now that he's covered in eggnog and wolf blood, he gives the corpse a final kick and sits up, shaking the snow from his hair and looking over at xichen. he didn't even get to see him die, and instead just sees his sick ski attack on this wolf.
his eyebrows raise, and he gives him the sup nod of appreciation. wow. ] Are you alright?
[ and anyway, he's getting up now and absolutely not dropping his glass shiv.
I, I'm not sure. [ he reaches up to the back of his head and rubs the spot where he's sure he felt himself get kicked and then knocked forward. ]
Something hit me from behind and then... [ but he's up, and not dead. xichen frowns as he tries to put the pieces back together when he spots ogata still getting mauled. ]
[He could have gotten that gun but he missed his opportunity. This time he has a mild success - the ski stabs into the wolf’s mouth and it howls with pain, though it isn’t dead yet. Just more determined to eat him now. Trying to claw up the tree to get at him.
Everyone else might hear some slightly more distant howls . . . but not that distant.]
Ogata ignore's Xichen's offer of help, but hey maybe he's just preoccupied? He tries to jab the ski in further to do more damage, since that's what's worked so far!!]
but getting away from wolves is definitely. a thing they have to do so, ] Indeed. [ which direction do they have to go to get away from the sound of wolves, and what's over there ]
[Has Ogata considered there might be something on his person that’s making this a wee bit harder than it has to be? No? Well that’s fine. The ski continues to deep throat the wolf, who mostly just seems irritated by what’s happening and not super hurt.
So there’s a couple of directions they can go! There’s straight down the steep slope - The Buttcracker - and off over a ridge they can’t quite see all the way down. Who knows what’s at the bottom! They can also go up it, if they want to try. And a path that does seem to lead off into the woods. Wolves mournfully howl, the sound echoing all around them. It’s hard to tell exactly what direction the howls are coming from though.]
[I'm gonna feel really stupid if this is right. Anyway, seeing the ski do nothing further, Ogata is going to think about what else he has on him and remember the very cursed gemstone. He takes it out, and before just throwing it at the wolf, he's going to like, move it around a little and see if the wolf's eyes follow it? If they do he's going to throw it as far away as possible in the hopes the wolf is going to chase after it. Please.
If he DOES throw it, it isn't in the direction of where Binghe and Xichen are standing. I just want to say this. Away from that direction.]
[ as expected. the wolf howls continue! majima is out there.
and, as two wolf murderers, it will probably be bad to continue standing here. binghe's gonna walk to the edge of the ridge and look over it, giving xichen a last look since ogata seem to have his wolf problems taken care of.
...wolf problem.
....actually...
looking at the corpse of the wolf he just murdered, binghe gives it a shove to get it moving. and then another shove. and then another shove, using the benefits of a steep ass hill and gravity to take it back over to the edge of the ridge.
there's a beat. he steps on the wolf corpse to leave it in place. ]
I'm not going up - climbing in these boots is going to be difficult. It's down or through the woods.
[ and with that he's going to yeet this wolf corpse off the side of the ridge. can they at least hear the sound of a wolf body hitting the ground or see a puff of snow? does this count as item use.
this also seems as good a time as any to casually eat a handful of gorp. you know, that whole starving thing. ]
[ he watches binghe curiously as he just kicks around a wolf corpse like his own personal football, but he does follow down the toward the ridge and nods in agreement. going up is only going to be more difficult.
he does keep an eye on ogata too, in case something goes really wrong with his wolf problem. ]
Given the fact we are being chased by wolves and the hour, the woods are rather risky. [ but so is this ramp, if it's way too steep.
he will also have some gorp, because why not, and inspects the ramp if there are any tracks for skis or wolves, and if there are any lights in the distance as a sign of shelter. ]
